Transition - Joining the College
To Parents and Carers of Year 6,
I hope that you are well, healthy and trying your best to keep you and your family safe in these unsettling times.
I wanted to reach out and contact you, to let you all know that we have not forgotten that we are moving into our transition phase of the academic year and that many of you are looking forward to September when your children come to us for the first time.
We understand that some students and parents may be anxious about transitioning from KS2 to KS3, but we will continue to do our very best to make this move from Primary School to Exmouth Community College as smooth as possible.
We had already booked all our Year 6 transition meetings and assemblies to meet Year 6 students and teachers and were fully preparing for the transition phase. However, these great plans may not go ahead in the normal way this year. Following the Easter period, we will be making contact with Primary Schools to discuss how we can work together to facilitate the transition in the current circumstances. More information will be posted on our College website and social media in the near future.
Remember that we have set up a Facebook group for the year group. The Facebook group is ‘ECC Year 7s from September 2020’. Thank you to the many parents/carers who have signed up. If you have not signed up, please do so as we will also be circulating information to the group regularly after the Easter period.
So it just leaves me to say do not worry about transition, we are working on it! Look after yourselves now and over the coming months and we will see you all on the other side of this pandemic, when we can once again come together as a community and celebrate our amazing children.
Best wishes and stay safe.
Gavin Dawkins - Head of Year 6/7 Transition 2020/2021
A very warm welcome to all Year 6 students, who will be joining us at Exmouth Community College in September.
This section of the website is designed to help you make the move from Year 6 at your present school, into Year 7 at Exmouth Community College.
Moving to a new school is always going to feel a little bit daunting, but it is also an exciting time as you embark on the next phase of your lives. We understand how nerve-wracking it can also be but we are really looking forward to welcoming you into the school community and hope you are excited about joining us!
Our aim is to make this move as easy and smooth as possible. Our tutor team and teaching staff will look after you and help you to settle in quickly.
We have very high standards at the school, which I know you will be keen to continue. This applies to appearance and dress as well as, your performance in lessons. I am sure that you are keen to do as well as you can at the school and achieve great things with us!
We look forward to meeting you in the near future.
