Next Steps

In the Sixth Form, you will be challenged to make the most of the array of opportunities that are available for students in Higher Education. One tutor session each week is focused on helping you plan for your next steps post-18. Whether you are thinking of going to university, starting an apprenticeship or applying for a job, we will help you prepare.

Our students have free access to Unifrog, which enables them to search for and favourite post-18 courses and research their career choices. Unifrog has a substantial library of videos, blogs, tools and psychometric tools that students can make use of.

Students receive a weekly Horizons bulletin, curated by the Sixth Form team, which brings together a huge variety of work experience, university outreach events, apprenticeship vacancies, taster events, career support and online events that are available for sixth formers.

An archive of Horizons bulletins can be found here.

Work experience is an expectation in the sixth form with level 3 learners aiming for 50 hours' work experience every year, including university open days, volunteering, traditional work experience, online work experience and volunteering around the school. Level 2 learners have a day a week dedicated to work experience and are expected to achieve 150 hours across their year with some subjects requiring more.

Rosa says: "I loved my work experience at Exeter Cathedral and was proud of the display I worked on which was available to the public."
