MHW Update Feb25

Mental Health and Wellbeing Update

Last term was a busy one for mental health and wellbeing events.

Exmouth Community College hosted the first primary school’s mental health ambassadors conference. Students from across our feeder primary schools came to share what they were doing in their schools to promote good mental health and wellbeing. The students presented in front of us all which was very brave and then took part in a range of activities that can aid our wellbeing such as exercise, making sensory bottles and worry dolls.

Thank you to Heads Up for organising and facilitating this wonderful event.

Exmouth Community College hosted the Woodbury, Exmouth and Budleigh wellbeing fayre during children’s mental health week.

17 Of our community partners attended to promote their work in east Devon and offer advice, support and networking opportunities to school professionals, parents, carers and students.

A huge thank you to David Bassett and Sue Lake for all of their hard work and to all of our local organisations for giving up their precious time to support this event.

Children’s Mental Health Week

Exmouth Community College delivered many activities children’s mental health week.

Ms Thorn and our mental health ambassadors went into all assemblies to promote the theme this year which was “Know yourself, Grow yourself”.

The focus was on understanding our emotions and feelings and how they can impact on our wellbeing. Students also had activities to work on during Lesson 42, including writing positive affirmations to each other.

Mental Health Ambassadors

After the half term break, our NHS Mental Health Support Team trained our new group of mental health ambassadors to join our current cohort. 22 Students from across all year groups were trained on what the role would be, what is positive mental health, how they want to make a difference at Exmouth Community College and how to be good listeners.

We look forward to completing the training before the end of the term and having a wonderful team of mental health ambassadors to drive their brilliant ideas.
