Over the course of their time at the College, we get to know our students very well and understand how to build on their strengths.  We work closely with them to identify and nurture their talents.  As teachers, we are experienced in teaching both A level and BTEC at Key Stage 5 and pride ourselves in offering courses that best suit our students’ strengths and future plans.

A Level: AQA A Level Theatre Studies

Pearson BTEC: Extended Certificate in Performing Arts Specification

You will learn how to devise and perform effective Drama; how actors, designers and directors communicate meaning to an audience and how to use performance and production skills appropriately and imaginatively in performance.
With support from highly experienced specialist teaching staff and through collaboration with professional performers and companies, you will develop the skills to create new and exciting theatrical productions.

This is a lively and student-centred theatre and performance programme of study. Students have the opportunity to work creatively and collaboratively to achieve shared dramatic intentions and enjoy all aspects of the theatrical process.
You will be introduced to theatre practitioners and companies whose styles of performance have revolutionised theatre through ground breaking plays and devised work.
Much of the course is practical and you will be staging plays and devising your own work in light of research as part of the learning process.  You can experiment with practical ideas that could make an audience change their way of thinking and see the world in a new light.

Where will it lead?
Once you have completed this two year course, you could further your study at university, gain employment in the industry or follow a wide range of career paths using the creative collaboration and research skills you have developed.

Whilst the majority of students will go on to follow a career the Performing Arts industry, some of our students also gain entry to university to study law and teaching, as well as seeking careers in the armed forces and hospitality industries. The social skills, team work and problem solving skills taught in Drama are recognised across many industries and education pathways.
