Year 13 Students celebrate brilliant results
Students were all smiles at Exmouth Community College (ECC) as they collected their A Level results this morning (14th August).
This year Sixth Form students exceeded expectations and achieved the best results in recent years with A*- C grades up 6% compared to last year, and the number of A*- A grades nearly doubling.
Amongst the highest achievers included Hugo Castro (A*AA) who goes on to study Engineering at Southampton University, Chloe Mora (A*AA) who will study Physical Geography at Exeter University, Imogen Hitchcock (A*AB) who will study Physiotherapy at Southampton University and Dylan Hurst (AAB), who will go on to study Medicine at Plymouth University.
Across the board students exceeded their expectations, producing an overall ‘Value Added’ score that is likely to place the school in the top 20% of Post-16 institutions in the country for the progress made in the two years between GCSE and A Levels.
At Exmouth Community College, which joined the Ted Wragg Trust earlier this year, particular emphasis is placed on preparing students for life, so that they are ready to play their part in a global community, with a combined focus on educational experiences in and outside the classroom. Alongside their studies Sixth Form Students take part in a weekly Elective (from Debating to British Sign Language) and have been involved in a host of charitable activities for their nominated charity, which this year was Surfers Against Sewage.
Exciting developments for September 2025 include opening a brand-new Sixth Form Hub and launching a new Sixth Form Football Academy in partnership with the Exeter Regional Talent Centre, whereby students complete a full Sixth Form study programme alongside a high level training and performance programme.
Tom Inman, Headteacher at Exmouth Community College said: “We are incredibly proud of our Sixth Form students. Their results today reflect their hard work, resilience, and commitment, as well as the outstanding support from our dedicated staff. This year’s group has not only achieved academically but has also made a real impact through community projects, enrichment opportunities, and helping to cultivate a strong sense of belonging in our school. They are wonderful role models for our younger students and leave us well-prepared for the opportunities and challenges that life will throw at them.”
Moira Marder, CEO of the Ted Wragg Multi-Academy Trust said: “A huge congratulations to all the students at Exmouth Community College collecting their A-Level results. Their achievements are a credit to their determination, the excellent support provided by the ECC team and the whole school's commitment to combine academic excellence with meaningful, real-world experiences. We wish them the best of luck as they embark on their next chapter.”
