Charity Mufti Day Friday 1st Nov
Celebrating England's forthcoming Rugby World Cup Final and raising money for the Japanese Red Cross Society
In celebration of England reaching the final (and Wales reaching the semi-final) of the Rugby World Cup in Japan on Saturday morning we would like to hold a mufti day on Friday 1st November. There would be an optional sporting theme for students to wear their favourite sports kit if they wish.
As many of you will know Typhoon Hagibis hit Japan at the start of the World Cup with wind speeds of 140mph leaving half a million people without power. Despite millions of people being evacuated the storm tragically killed at least 60 people with a further 20 people confirmed as missing. Thousands of people still remain in shelters.
We would like to raise awareness amongst the students of this climate event and the effect it has had on the Japanese people. We would also like to recognise the tenacity shown by Japan in overcoming these significant difficulties through amazing planning before the typhoon hit and their subsequent resilience in the face of significant hardship.
To show our support to the victims we would ask for a donation of £1 per child via Squid payment which we will then donate to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
