^{Key Stage 3 (Years 7 – 9)}

^{During Years 7 & 8 students follow a rotation of material areas including Design Technology/Food & Nutrition/Textiles/CAD CAM. In year 7 the focus is on health and safety and builds on the skills and knowledge pupils have learnt at primary school, allowing students to work in specialist rooms with a wide variety of equipment. In year 8 students have the opportunity to develop team working and problem solving skills as well develop their independence through a variety of practical sessions. In year 9 students choose two material areas to study in further detail for the year and can choose from all the GCSE course options including Design Technology/ Engineering/ Food & Nutrition/ Graphics/ Textiles.}

^{The core focus of KS3 is to develop the skills, processes and confidence in the students to allow them to work creatively and safely. Students learn to design and make products that solve genuine relevant problems within different contexts whilst considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. To do this effectively, they will acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on additional disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art.}
