Year 6 Transition
Dear Year 6/Parents and Carers,
During the next couple of days, the College will be emailing your parents/carers directly your tutor group allocations. If we do not have their email address, we will send your tutor group allocation letter by post.
Unfortunately, and with much regret, we received indication within the daily guidance from the Department of Education on Monday 8th June that ‘visits to secondary schools for induction will not take place this year’. This has been a huge disappointment to all of us at the College as we were looking forward to meeting you during Welcome Week. As a result, we are rapidly re-arranging our transition plans and currently working on alternative virtual opportunities, which include:
- Releasing more regular vlogs with information about the College on our website and Facebook group.
- Setting up profiles of the transition team and tutors on our website and Facebook group so you know a little more about us.
- Holding a Facebook live event on the evening of Monday 6th July for parents and carers, starting at 6:30pm (details will follow).
- Having a ‘virtual worry box’ where you and your parents/carers can email your worries or concerns about transition. Please email email@example.com should you have any worries, concerns or questions about transition.
Our transition team are absolutely committed to ensuring you have as many transition opportunities as possible before starting at the College. If the guidance changes before the end of the summer term and if there is time, we will do everything possible to reinstate the originally planned ‘Welcome Week’ before the end of term. Just be prepared that you may get very short notice if this does happen! If this is not possible, we will be putting in place plans for a welcome experience right at the start of the Autumn Term for your Year Group (guidance permitting).
Please remember to keep regularly checking the transition and other pages on our College website and sign up to the Facebook group (ECC Year 7s from September 2020) on our College Facebook page. We will be regularly releasing information through these platforms so do not miss out!
We are looking forward to meeting you and please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any further questions.
Yours sincerely and stay safe and well,
Mr D Turner Mr G Dawkins Mrs N Pearcey
