Les Miserables

The 10th December 2018 saw the opening night of Les Miserables the Schools Edition, performed by students from across all year groups across the College.

Set in 19th century France, Les Miserables tells an epic tale of broken dreams, passion and redemption set against a nation in the throes of revolution. Playing to a full house every night of the week plus a Saturday matinee, students from the college blew their audiences away with their incredible talents. There was not a dry eye in the house by the end of the show which was met by standing ovation from the first performance.

Students from year 7 right up to year 13 were in the cast, orchestra, backstage crew and front of house. Arguably one of the most famous musicals in the world; rehearsals began back in May of this year to ensure that this epic tale could be told in all its glory.

A team effort from the Drama and Music departments who directed and produced the whole thing. Director, Mrs Rowe commented "We set ourselves a huge challenge with this showbut the commitment and determination from our talented and hardworking students has made this a pleasure to produce.

We cannot thank them enough for going that extra mile to meet and surpass our expectations. A true credit to the college and their families". School productions are put on as an extra curricular activity, many staff give up their free time including evenings and weekends during rehearsal time and during show week.

A special mention must go to Joshua Lees as Jean ValJean, Cameron Woolsey as Javert, Nikki Atkins as Fantine and Luella Lewis as Eponine. Not forgetting the mischievous Thenardiers; Robyn Pickering and Harry Wright.

We would like to make a special thank you to Ocean Bowl who sponsored the college production, donating £500 towards the costumes for the cast.
