Post 16 is an exciting time when you will start to explore where your talents and interests lie: you will develop those talents to make yourself opportunities for the future. When you leave College you will enter a highly competitive job and education market so it is vital that you develop your expertise and skills as much as possible so that you can get the best for yourself in your career, university placement or job.
At Exmouth Community College we follow a personalised approach to students, so each student has a tutor who will help formulate an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to support success. We value all students equally; whatever courses they take or grades they have achieved, they all contribute to the community. Teachers and students work hard together to achieve academic excellence, but we never lose our focus on students as individuals, and take huge pride in their achievements.
We encourage all students to participate in extra-curricular experiences both for self development and for fun, which enhance the individual and your C.V.: current examples range from surfing in North Devon to the Duke of Edinburgh award to a trip to Berlin! We want all our students to aim high and so we provide advice and guidance on all aspects of applying for a career, gap-year, or university.
In the end, whether a student is here for one or three years, we want them to look back on their time with us as a great period in their lives when they invested their talents and efforts in giving themselves the best possible foundation for future success.
